It is our commitment to you to provide programs and events that are regularly scheduled and relevant. President and CEO, Barbara Thomas, is among the more than 30 African-American leaders, opinion makers, scholars, analysts, elected officials and entertainers who have joined PBS commentator Travis Smiley in Los Angeles for a symposium entitled “The State of the Black Union: Making America as Good as Its Promise.”

The sporting world returns as the NBA All-Star Game was in Phoenix February 15, 2009.
In addition to the Cardinals of the NFL and Suns in the NBA, Phoenix is home to MLB's Diamondbacks, the Coyotes of the NHL, NASCAR and Arizona State University. Many baseball teams will be returning to the Valley as spring training starts in March and part of the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament will be played here as well.

The Fall 2008 Leadership Retreat was a tremendous success! There were over 125 people that came from all over the United States and from Toronto, Canada. Thank you to all of the members, volunteers, businesses, and to the entire Valley of the Sun who made this weekend very special. We would also like to welcome our newest members who joined this weekend. During this weekend, the National Board of Directors met and Board Members from most of the 44 Chapters attended.
